What Type of Mattress is Right for You?

Some people have sound sleep every night, while others are less fortunate. Many times, finding the right mattress is the first step in getting a restful sleep.

As your mattress gets older, the support gets weaker. If you cannot even remember when you purchased your mattress, it could very well be time to buy a new one.

A good mattress will hold you in a position that supports and aligns your spine, shoulders, and head. A mattress that is too firm will push on the pressure points and make your body unaligned. However, a mattress that is too soft will allow your body to slump and droop.

There are many different kinds of mattresses:

An innerspring mattress uses a coil system. The more coils, the better you sleep.

Pillow-top mattresses have a soft layer sewn onto the top of the mattress. They feel like a large pillow.A memory foam mattresses uses a foam system and contours to the configuration of the sleeper

Airbeds use an air chamber system and you can adjust the level of firmness to your preference.

Waterbeds use a water chamber covered by foam padding.

If you're looking for a new mattress, test it in the store before purchasing. Lie down on each mattress in the position in which you normally sleep, for about 5-10 minutes. Try to duplicate the way you usually sleep. You are the only one that can decide which kind of mattress feels best to your body.

When it comes to getting a good night’s sleep, the type of mattress a person uses makes all the difference.
